Hello!

I'm Nipuni Dissanayake

I’m a lifelong learner with a love for connecting ideas, people, and purpose. My journey weaves together my education, professional experiences, creative hobbies, and volunteer work, each of which shapes who I am today. I’m passionate about growth, whether it’s delivering meaningful projects, exploring new skills, or giving back to the community. Outside of work, you’ll often find me traveling, practicing self-care, and always seeking ways to nurture both my well-being and that of others.

Work Experience

At the start of my Bachelor's degree, I never envisioned a career as a Business Analyst. Yet, when it came time for my internship, I began exploring career paths that could bridge technology and business. I wasn’t drawn to becoming a software engineer; I wanted a role that involved more interaction with people. This journey led me to discover business analysis, which felt like a perfect fit for my skills and passion. Since then, I have welcomed every challenge and valued every invaluable learning experience. Now, I've transitioned into a Software Product Manager role, and I truly savor every moment of it. The future is uncertain, but I’m ready to embrace whatever opportunities come my way!

Education

Being a lifelong learner is a trait that is very important to me, and I believe that a good education extends beyond the classroom. Some lessons were learned in a traditional academic setting, while others have come from professional mentors, industry experts, and, in some cases, friends and family. I completed my bachelor's and master's degrees in IT and Business Management. I love learning new things and often keep my learning journey open to various topics that capture my interest, whether they relate to work or personal pursuits.

M. Sc ICT in Business & Public Sector
2021 - 2023

Leiden University, The Netherlands

During my master's program, in addition to my studies and my first international experience, I participated in the Leiden Leadership Honors Program and mentored master's students through the Nexus Study Association. I was also a student member of the Program Committee for the ICT in Business & Public Sector, as well as the Science-based Business programs. For my thesis, I worked on an agile framework specifically designed for AI and machine learning projects.

B.Sc.(Hons). Information Technology & Management
2014 - 2019

University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka

Throughout my bachelor's program, I became involved in various activities, such as the drama club, where I had the opportunity to participate in a university play. I also volunteered with AIESEC, which opened my eyes to a global citizen mindset and helped me grow as a leader. For my thesis, I collaborated with two friends to explore how we can predict personality traits using Facebook data.

Secondary School
2004 - 2013

Ananda Balika Vidyalaya.

Colombo 10, Sri Lanka

I completed my secondary education at Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, where I worked diligently in my studies and participated in co-curricular activities. I served as Head Prefect and President of the Arts Union, helping to organize different projects. Additionally, I was also a member of the school choir, media unit, quiz club and swimming team. I also performed well in both Ordinary Level and Advanced Level exams, and was honored to be named the Most Outstanding Student in 2013.

Primary School
2000 - 2004

St. Clair's College.

Colombo 06, Sri Lanka

I started my education at a primary school where I enjoyed my time from grades 1 to 5. I got involved in activities such as speech, drama, and dance, and loved being part of the school's dance team. In fourth grade, I also began swimming and served as a junior prefect. After doing well on my grade 5 scholarship exam, I moved to Ananda Balika Vidyalaya in Colombo 10.

Volunteer Experience

Throughout my studies, I actively volunteered with several organizations that significantly enriched my life. While pursuing my bachelor's degree, I volunteered with AIESEC. After relocating to the Netherlands for my master's program, I took on the role of secretary for the ESN Leiden Cultural Committee in 2022. Additionally, I serve as an ambassador for the Study in NL program and currently volunteer as a Career Ambassador. These experiences have been invaluable, and I am truly grateful for the wonderful people I have met and the lasting memories I have created.

My Interests

For body, mind & soul! I love my career, but I recognize the importance of striking a balance between work and life. That’s why when I’m not working, you’ll find me indulging in some of my favourite things.
